Iglesia Evangélica Nueva Visión: a church website rebuild
Iglesia Evangélica Nueva Visión is a Spanish-speaking church in Playas de Rosarito, Baja California, Mexico. We moved its website off a hosted CMS to a fast static site and connected it to Oremos, the church's prayer app, for prayer requests, announcements and the prayer-and-fasting calendar. A Spanish-language church website moved off a hosted CMS to a fast static site, connected to the church's prayer app.
What we built
Static rebuild on the church's existing template, with real photos and content
Homepage, eight ministry pages, news and events, and a prayer-and-fasting calendar
Prayer requests, prayer wall and announcements embedded from the Oremos app
Build script that checks every internal link and blocks leftovers from the old CMS
HTML/CSS/JS
Node.js
Netlify
The starting point
The church's website ran on a hosted CMS, built on a church template. We rebuilt it as a static site on that same template, filled it with the church's real photos and content, and moved the domain, DNS and SSL to Netlify. Our work was the rebuild, the migration and the connection to the prayer app, not an original visual design.
What's on the site
Everything the congregation and visitors look for, in Spanish.
Homepage and eight ministry pages
News and events
Prayer-and-fasting calendar
Privacy notice
Clean URLs, with redirects from the old addresses
Connected to the Oremos prayer app
The prayer request form, the prayer wall and testimonies are embedded from the church's Oremos prayer app. Announcements and events edited in the app's admin show up on the website within about a minute, so staff update one place instead of two.
A build that checks itself
A Node.js build script generates the whole site and refuses to publish a broken one.
Checks every internal link
Blocks .html URLs
Fails if anything still loads from the old CMS
Fails if a template placeholder image slips in
Stack and services
Static HTML, CSS and JavaScript generated by Node.js build scripts, hosted on Netlify.
Can a church website update itself from a prayer app?
Yes. Here, announcements and events edited in the Oremos admin appear on the website within about a minute.
Why a static site for a church?
Static pages are fast, simple to host and have very little to break or patch. The dynamic parts, like prayer requests, come from the app.
Is the site only in Spanish?
Yes, because the congregation speaks Spanish. We build church websites in Spanish, English or both.
Did you design the church's site?
The look comes from the church template the old site already used. We rebuilt and migrated the site, replaced placeholders with real photos, and connected it to the prayer app.
